  • Rajah Mild Masala has a unique blend of high quality spices such as roasted coriander, paprika, methee and garlic. The masala contains a mild level of chilli and provides mouth-watering aroma and delicious flavour.

  • Consumers perceive masala as authentic own mix of spices that is blended at different shops. Rajah saw this as a gap and to bring convenience and simplicity where consumers do not have to go different shops to get their ideal mix of masala. Rajah now offers the perfect blend of authentic spices. 

  • Rajah Mild Masala contains the allergen wheat gluten.

  • No the Mild Masala contains wheat gluten from the wheat brand that is added which acts as a carrier for the pure spices. It allows for sautéing of spices without burning. It has the same fineness as the spices, and for that reason we use it as it doesn’t add a flavour, but it carries the fine particles of the spices.

  • Rajah Mild Masala can be used in all types of curries both protein based as well as vegetarian. It can also be used in all types of stews. 

  • Yes, all variants under the Rajah range are suitable for vegetarians. 

  • The Rajah Curry Powders contain wheat gluten from the wheat bran that is added which acts as a carrier for the pure spices. It allows for sautéing of spices without burning. It has the same fineness as the spices, and for that reason we use it as it doesn’t add a flavour, but it carries the fine particles of the spices.

  • All the variants within the Rajah Curry Powders are halaal. The new Mild Masala is also halaal and approved by SANHA. 

  • No, the Rajah Curry Powders are not certified kosher.

  • As part of our natural choices journey, Unilever have started to source steam sterilized herbs and spices from our suppliers and thus eliminating the need to radurise our herbs and spices. Steam sterilization is an effective technique as radurisation in ensuring consumer food safety and has been used with greater frequency throughout the world due to greater consumer acceptance than radurisation. It can have minimal impact to sensory characteristics such as volatile oil and colour of the herbs and spices due to the use of high temperature & pressure.

    The team at Unilever have worked with our suppliers to ensure consistent quality of steam sterilized herbs and spices so that our consumers continue to enjoy the same great taste and appearance of Robertsons, Rajah, Aromat, Knorrox and Knorr products without the need to label as part of the ingredient list.

  • Rajah is excited to introduce a new range of dry sauces that will focus on Indian cuisine with variants such as Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Beef Madras and Chicken Tikka.

  • All four products do not contain any allergens within the actual products but may contain trace amount of the allergens such as cow’s milk, egg, soya and wheat gluten due to contact with mixers and processing lines.

  • The Chefs at Knorr have cooked the butter chicken recipe with 20g of the spice but felt the dish was too spicy for our South African consumers especially if the variant will be used as a family meal. This led to the Butter Chicken variant having 15g of spice to ensure best dish experience. 

  • Please ensure you use a dry spoon to scoop out your desired quantity of product from the sachet. 
    NEVER decant product directly from the sachet over a hot/steaming pot. Once used, ensure that the sachet is closed as tight as possible and placed back into the carton. Store the product in a cool, dry place
