Hitting The (Fertile) Ground Running

Hitting The (Fertile) Ground Running

Now that you’ve done all the groundwork, your home garden is almost ready for planting, and your family is just a few weeks away from enjoying a delicious Sishebo prepared with top quality, fresh vegetables.

Thankfully, the next step is simple and sweat-free. The Reel Gardening strips take all the fuss out of starting your garden. The seeds are packaged with fertiliser in biodegradable paper that anchors the seeds in the soil at exactly the right depth and with the correct spacing between them. All that’s left for you to do is to plant the seed strip into your prepared soil, using the white line on the strip as a marker, then pat around the area to secure the strip in place.

The toughest part of this stage is choosing which vegetables you want to grow for the most delicious homemade meal you will ever make! Decisions, decisions! There are a few things to consider, like the basic care that is required by different plants, which vegetables grow best alongside each other, and what pests to look out for, as well as the desires of your taste buds.

You might like to try growing your own onions. They are an essential ingredient in every good Sishebo.

◦ Grow best in full or partial shade;
◦ Take 10-14 days to germinate and 150 days to harvest;
◦ Spout flowers as they ripen;
◦ Should be planted between February and March;
◦ Are useful for deterring pests from cabbage, carrot and spinach in the gardens;
◦ Grow well beside tomatoes, lettuce and beetroot.
